RESPIRATOR FIT-TESTING: APR & SCBA MASKS

The Canadian Standards Association (Z94.9.1.6) and the Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA) states that every worker who is required to use a respirator mask to perform their job, MUST be fit-tested. Employers are required to protect them from any hazardous airborne particulates, vapours, gases including chemical or biological agents they may be exposed to.

Employers are responsible to ensure all employees have a VALID Fit-Test certificate on file as part of their EHS Program/Policies for Respiratory Protection. This certificate verifies the employee has PASSED on the specific make and model the employer has provided.

Spartan Response utilizes the “Gold Standard” methodology of Quantitative Respirator Fit-Testing (QNFT). with OHD’s QuantiFit – a highly specialized instrument with their scientifically proven and patented Controlled Negative Pressure (CNP) technology to measure respirator leakage. Through five exercises the software verifies a worker has successfully passed with a safe seal-to-face “Fit Factor” report on the specific respirator’s make model and size.

RESPIRATOR MASKS WE FIT-TEST: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) that use specific cartridges & filters, and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that uses a clean, supplied air source.

  • Clients must confirm the mask make & model they need to be fit-tested on.
  • For client-supplied masks, multiple sizes must be available for the fit-test.
