CONFINED SPACE PERSONNEL

CASUAL, ON-CALL • HAMILTON, ONTARIO

Spartan Response is actively recruiting to fill several positions for Confined Space Attendants and Rescuers.

Our ideal candidates are team oriented with FLEXIBILITY and AVAILABILITY in their schedules.

We offer new recruit training, valuable industry experience and the opportunity for advancement in the company for the right candidates.

These positions report to the Field Operations Manager and are based out of our Hamilton office.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs confined space attendant functions
  • Executes confined space rescue in the event of an emergency
  • Follows Spartan’s handling, inspection, cleaning and preventative maintenance guidelines for all confined space and rescue equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Certifications:

  • Team oriented & good communication & interpersonal skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to foster strong team and client relationship building skills.
  • Ability to follow Environmental Health & Safety programs & procedures.

Candidates that have any of the following certifications are preferred, however, Spartan Response provides the required training to the right candidates to prepare them for the field.

  • Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • Fall Protection and/or Working at Heights.
  • Confined Space Entry and Rescue
  • Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

Licences:

  • Drivers License – Clean abstract (G Class Minimum. D Class Preferred)

Hours of Work:

  • Casual, On-Call
  • Shift work – Hours will vary to cover 24/365 coverage.

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate to be determined based on skills and experience.

INSTRUCTOR – TRAINING SERVICES

FULL TIME • HAMILTON, ONTARIO

Spartan Response is currently recruiting for a full-time instructor to support our growing Training Services Division. Our ideal candidate comes with a solid background of both in-field and in-class teaching experience and has the ability to deliver a wide range of our programs in the Health & Safety, Industrial, HazMat and Spill Response and sectors. Spartan Response aims to provide exceptional training services and desires its training personnel to deliver programs to support that target.

Our programs are offered as “Open Courses” and “Private/Customized” based our client’s requirements and typically run during an 8am-4pm schedule. Courses can be one-day or multiple days with both in-class and hands-on, scenario-based and interactive experience formats.

The instructor’s mandate is to deliver Spartan’s training programs at our state-of-the art training facility in Hamilton and/or at our client preferred locations. Instructors are equipped with all of the required training materials and technology, and report into the Managing Director.

This is a great opportunity for seasoned industry professional who can bring their stellar industry knowledge, realworld experiences to not only execute Spartan’s training programs, but to assist in the ongoing development, quality control and code auditing of our programs to ensure they’re updated, relevant and best-in-class for quality.

To facilitate adult learning through the delivery of Spartan Response programs in the Health & Safety & Industrial courses including:

  • Engaging in strong client interactions
  • Ensure Health & Safety is considered in the performance of all activities
  • Have the ability to understand and follow Health and Safety Requirements, Policies & Procedures
  • Delivery of all reprogram material (Both classroom and scenario-based/interactive sessions) including facilitating active dialogue, Q&A
  • Administer and submit all required paperwork (eg., Attendance, Forms, Exams and Evaluations)

Experience (industry knowledge, education, certifications) teaching any of the programs listed below in the following disciplines:

WHMIS-GHS
Confined Space Awareness
Confined Space Rescue,
Forklift Operator
Propane Handling
Lock-out/Tag-out
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
Regulation 347
Product Specific Training (example: Chlorine)
Book 7 Traffic Control
Spill response and general emergency response processes

  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Construction Regulation 213 & Industrial Regulations 851.
  • Teaching experience in a related field and/or with specific industry focus areas is preferred
  • Have the ability to interpret, evaluate and apply regulations, policies and procedures to a wide variety of work situations and jurisdictions.
  • Willing to learn other course disciplines.
  • Preference will be given to those with a facilitators certificate
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Good command of Microsoft Word & PowerPoint and general computer skills

Licences:

  • Drivers License – Clean abstract
  • Flexibility to travel when courses delivered at client sites

HAZMAT TECHNICIANS

CASUAL, ON-CALL • HAMILTON, ONTARIO

Spartan Response is actively recruiting to fill several positions for HazMat Technicians.

The HazMat Technicians are responsible for supporting the Emergency Response division under the direction of a HazMat Team Leader, with the execution of efficient, 24/7 HazMat response services in a professional and safe manner.

Our ideal candidates are team oriented with FLEXIBILITY and AVAILABILITY in their schedules.

These positions report to the Field Operations Manager and are based out of our Hamilton office.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to support a hazardous spill operation in a team environment
  • Technical understanding of spill response procedures, containers, products,regulatory expectations
  • Ability to engage in a strong safety culture and follow compliance of health and safety regulations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Accuracy/attention to detail with job-specific procedures and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned (Confined Space & Industrial Services)

Mandatory Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in hazardous materials emergency response
  • Previous experience in chemical handling, transferring, and waste management

Education & Industry

  • NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Technician Level
  • Confined Space Entry/Rescue Certification

Licences:
